Application Instructions
 
  1. File a FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov
  2. Complete a Federal Direct PLUS application online at https://studentloans.gov
 
Eligibility
U.S. citizen or permanent resident
Enrolled at least half-time in a graduate degree or certificate program
Not be default on a prior educational loan
Credit review required
Annual Limit Borrow up to the cost of attendance less other aid (including maximum Direct)
Note: A requested amount of $100,000 or more must be divided into two loan requests. The Department of Education will not process a single award of $100,000 or more.
Aggregate Limits No aggregate limit
Interest Rate 7% for loans disbursed 7/1/2017 - 6/30/2018
Fees 4.264%

Repayment Begins 60 days after last disbursement of loan; students with enrollment status of at least half-time will be eligible for a continuing education deferment of repayment.

Public Service Loan forgiveness
Length of Repayment Standard 10-year repayment for loan borrowing under $30,000.  Extends to 25 years over $30,000.
Disbursement Twice a year, at the beginning of each term.
Student must be registered for classes and have tuition charges.

 

NSLDS Access:  NSLDS is the U.S. Department of Education’s central database for Title IV student aid.  Inquiries can be made to this website for Title IV loans (Direct and Perkins) and/or Pell grants.  The site displays information on loan and/or grant amounts, outstanding balances, loan statuses, and disbursements.  In order to use the NSLDS Student Access website, you will need to login with your FSA ID username and password.  If you do not have a username and password, you can create one on the site.
